Beyond Accessibility: Understanding the Value of Universal Design

Beyond Accessibility

In the not-so-distant future, the competitive edge will belong to companies that understand the power of accessibility and who design their websites for universal access. When it comes to accessibility and universal design, the question we should be asking today isn’t “Why?” but rather “Why not?”

Join HiMA for our September luncheon, where our panel of experts will explain why it’s time for our definition of “accessible” to evolve—and why accessibility and universal design will be as important as usability and SEO when it comes to creating an effective Web presence and staying ahead of your competition.

Key Questions / Takeaways

  • What IS Universal Design? What is Accessibility?
  • How has Universal Design changed the way projects (of any type) are planned and executed?
  • The majority of the audience is probably marketing oriented, what the best way to describe why they need universal design?
  • What if my company says that the disabled market is too small to consider this type of investment? How do these principles benefit people who don't have a disability?
  • Design thinking is a term that more businesses are becoming familiar with, is this the same thing as universal design?
  • Universal Design, Accessibility, SEO how are they related?
  • What are some of the best practices and processes for universal design?
  • Where can the universal design framework be applied in business?
  • How does this relate to the audience's job of doing interactive marketing?
  • How do I start learning how to apply these principles?
